Psalm 34:4 I sought the LORD, and he heard me, and delivered
me from all my fears.
Matthew 10:28 And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.
II Timothy 1:7 For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.
Hebrews 13:5,6 Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be
content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave
thee, nor forsake thee. 6 So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper,
and I will not fear what man shall
do unto me.

Matthew 6:19-34
19 Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth
and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: 20 But
lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust
doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: 21 For
where your treasure is, there will your heart be also. 22 The light of
the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall
be full of light. 23 But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be
full of
darkness. If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great
is that darkness! 24 No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate
the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise
the other. Ye cannot serve God
and mammon. 25 Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for
your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your
body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body
than raiment? 26 Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither
do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them.
Are ye not much better than they? 27 Which of you by taking thought
can addone cubit unto his stature? 28 And why take ye thought for raiment?
Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither
do they spin: 29 And yet I say unto you, That even Solomon in all his glory
was not arrayed like one of these. 30 Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass
of the field, which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, shall
he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith? 31 Therefore take no
thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or,Wherewithal
shall we be clothed? 32 (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:)for
your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things. 33
But seek yefirst the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these
things shall be addedunto you. 34 Take therefore no thought for the morrow:
for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient
unto the day is the evil thereof.
Psalm 51 1 To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David, when Nathan
the prophet came unto him, after he had gone in to Bathsheba. Have mercy
upon me, O God, according to thy lovingkindness: according unto the multitude
of thy tender mercies
blot out my transgressions. 2 Wash me throughly from mine iniquity,
and cleanse me from my sin. 3 For I acknowledge my transgressions: and
my sin is ever before me. 4 Against thee, thee only, have I sinned, and
done this evil in thy sight: that thou
mightest be justified when thou speakest, and be clear when thou judgest.
5 Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me.
6 Behold, thou desirest truth in the inward parts: and in the hidden part
thou shalt make me to know
wisdom. 7 Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean: wash me,
and I shall be whiter than snow. 8 Make me to hear joy and gladness; that
the bones which thou hast broken may rejoice. 9 Hide thy face from my sins,
and blot out all mine iniquities. 10
Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within
me. 11 Cast me not away from thy presence; and take not thy holy spirit
from me. 12 Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with
thy free spirit. 13 Then will I teach
transgressors thy ways; and sinners shall be converted unto thee. 14
Deliver me from bloodguiltiness, O God, thou God of my salvation: and my
tongue shall sing aloud of thy righteousness. 15 O Lord, open thou my lips;
and my mouth shall shew forth thy praise. 16 For thou desirest not sacrifice;
else would I give it: thou delightest not in burnt offering. 17 The sacrifices
of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou
wilt not despise. 18 Do good in thy good pleasure unto Zion: build thou
the walls of Jerusalem. 19 Then shalt thou be pleased with the sacrifices
of righteousness, with burnt offering and whole burnt offering: then shall
they offer bullocks upon thine altar.
I John 1:4-9
4 And these things write we unto you, that your joy may be full. 5
This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you,
that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all. 6 If we say that we
have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the
truth: 7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have
fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth
us from all sin. 8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves,
and the truth is not in us. 9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and
just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
Bereaved
Matthew 5:4
4 Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.
II Cor 1:3,4 Christ.
3 Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father
of mercies, and the God of all comfort; 4 Who comforteth us in all our
tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble,
by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God.

I Corinthians 13
1 Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not
charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal. 2 And though
I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge;
and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have
not charity, I am nothing. 3 And though I bestow all my goods to feed the
poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity, it
profiteth me nothing. 4 Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth
not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up, 5 Doth not behave itself
unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil;
6 Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth; 7 Beareth all
things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.
8 Charity never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail;
whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge,
it shall vanish away. 9 For we know in part, and we prophesy in part.
10 But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part
shall be done away. 11 When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood
as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish
things. 12 For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face:
now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known. 13 And
now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these
is charity.
Conscious of Sin
Proverbs 28:13
13 He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth
and forsaketh them shall have mercy.
Defeated
Romans 8:31,32
31 What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can
be against us? 32 He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up
for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?

Psalm 34
1 A Psalm of David, when he changed his behaviour before Abimelech;
who drove him away, and he departed. I will bless the LORD at all times:
his praise shall continually be in my mouth. 2 My soul shall make her boast
in the LORD: the humble shall hear thereof, and be glad. 3 O magnify the
LORD with me, and let us exalt his name together. 4 I sought the LORD,
and he heard me, and delivered me from all my fears. 5 They looked unto
him, and were lightened: and their faces were not ashamed.
6 This poor man cried, and the LORD heard him, and saved him out of
all his troubles. 7 The angel of the LORD encampeth round about them that
fear him, and delivereth them. 8 O taste and see that the LORD is good:
blessed is the man that trusteth in him. 9 O fear the LORD, ye his saints:
for there is no want to them that fear him. 10 The young lions do lack,
and suffer hunger: but they that seek the LORD shall not want any good
thing. 11 Come, ye children, hearken unto me: I will teach you the fear
of the LORD. 12 What man is he that desireth life, and loveth many days,
that he may see good? 13 Keep thy tongue from evil, and thy lips
from speaking guile. 14 Depart from evil, and do good; seek peace, and
pursue it. 15 The eyes of the LORD are upon the righteous, and his ears
are open unto their cry. 16 The face of the LORD is against them that do
evil, to cut off the remembrance of them from the earth. 17 The righteous
cry, and the LORD heareth, and delivereth them out of all their troubles.
18 The LORD is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such
as be of a contrite spirit.
19 Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the LORD delivereth
him out of them all. 20 He keepeth all his bones: not one of them is broken.
21 Evil shall slay the wicked: and they that hate the righteous shall be
desolate. 22 The LORD redeemeth the soul of his servants: and none of them
that trust in him shall be desolate.
Disaster Threatens
Psalm 91
1 He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide
under the shadow of the Almighty. 2 I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge
and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust. 3 Surely he shall deliver
thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence. 4 He
shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust:
his truth shall be thy shield and buckler. 5 Thou shalt not be afraid for
the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day; 6 Nor
for the pestilence that walketh in darkness; nor for the destruction that
wasteth at noonday. 7 A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand
at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee. 8 Only with thine eyes
shalt thou behold and see the reward of the wicked. 9 Because thou hast
made the LORD, which is my refuge, even the most High, thy habitation;
10 There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh
thy dwelling. 11 For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep
thee in all thy ways.
12 They shall bear thee up in their hands, lest thou dash thy foot
against a stone. 13 Thou shalt tread upon the lion and adder: the young
lion and the dragon shalt thou trample under feet. 14 Because he hath set
his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high,
because he hath known my name. 15 He shall call upon me, and I will answer
him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honour him.
16 With long life will I satisfy him, and shew him my salvation.
Discouraged
Psalm 23
1 The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. 2 He maketh me to lie
down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. 3 He restoreth
my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.
4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will
fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort
me.5 Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies:
thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. 6 Surely goodness
and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in
the house of the LORD for ever.
Psalm 42:6-11
6 O my God, my soul is cast down within me: therefore will I remember
thee from the land of Jordan, and of the Hermonites, from the hill Mizar.
7 Deep calleth unto deep at the noise of thy waterspouts: all thy waves
and thy billows are gone over me.
8 Yet the LORD will command his lovingkindness in the daytime, and
in the night his song shall be with me, and my prayer unto the God of my
life. 9 I will say unto God my rock, Why hast thou forgotten me? why go
I mourning because of the oppression of the enemy? 10 As with a sword in
my bones, mine enemies reproach me; while they say daily unto me, Where
is thy God?
11 Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted within
me? hope thou in God: for I shall yet praise him, who is the health of
my countenance, and my God.
Psalm 55:22
22 Cast thy burden upon the LORD, and he shall sustain thee: he shall
never suffer the righteous to be moved.
Matthew 5:11,12
11 Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and
shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake. 12
Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for
so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.
Philipians 4:4-7
4 Rejoice in the Lord alway: and again I say, Rejoice. 5 Let your moderation
be known unto all men. The Lord is at hand.
6 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication
with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. 7 And the peace
of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds
through Christ Jesus.
Doubting
Hebrews 11
1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things
not seen. 2 For by it the elders obtained a good report.
3 Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word
of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do
appear. 4 By faith Abel offered unto God a more excellent sacrifice than
Cain, by which he obtained witness that he was righteous, God testifying
of his gifts: and by it he being dead yet speaketh. 5 By faith Enoch was
translated that he should not see death; and was not found, because God
had translated him: for before his translation he had this testimony, that
he pleased God. 6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for
he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder
of them that diligently seek him. 7 By faith Noah, being warned of God
of things not seen as yet, moved with fear, prepared an ark to the saving
of his house; by the which he condemned the world, and became heir of the
righteousness which is by faith. 8 By faith Abraham, when he was called
to go out into a place which he should after receive for an inheritance,
obeyed; and he went out, not knowing whither he went. 9 By faith he sojourned
in the land of promise, as in a strange country, dwelling in tabernacles
with Isaac and Jacob, the heirs with him of the same promise: 10 For he
looked for a city which hath foundations, whose builder and maker is God.
11 Through faith also Sara herself received strength to conceive seed,
and was delivered of a child when she was past age, because she judged
him faithful who had promised. 12 Therefore sprang there even of one, and
him as good as dead, so many as the stars of the sky in multitude, and
as the sand which is by the sea shore innumerable. 13 These all died in
faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off,
and were persuaded of them, and embraced them, and confessed that they
were strangers and pilgrims on the earth. 14 For they that say such things
declare plainly that they seek a country. 15 And truly, if they had been
mindful of that country from whence they came out, they might have had
opportunity to have returned. 16 But now they desire a better country,
that is, an heavenly: wherefore God is not ashamed to be called their God:
for he hath prepared for them a city. 17 By faith Abraham, when he was
tried, offered up Isaac: and he that had received the promises offered
up his only begotten son, 18 Of whom it was said, That in Isaac shall thy
seed be called: 19 Accounting that God was able to raise him up, even from
the dead; from whence also he received him in a figure. 20 By faith Isaac
blessed Jacob and Esau concerning things to come. 21 By faith Jacob, when
he was a dying, blessed both the sons of Joseph; and worshipped, leaning
upon the top of his staff. 22 By faith Joseph, when he died, made mention
of he departing of the children of Israel; and gave commandment concerning
his bones. 23 By faith Moses, when he was born, was hid three months of
his parents, because they saw he was a proper child; and they were not
afraid of the king's comandment. 24 By faith Moses, when he was come to
years, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh's daughter; 25 Choosing
rather to suffer affliction with the people of God, than to enjoy the pleasures
of sin for a season; 26 Esteeming the reproach of Christ greater riches
than the treasures in Egypt: for he had respect unto the recompence of
the reward. 27 By faith he forsook Egypt, not fearing the wrath of the
king: for he endured, as seeing him who is invisible. 28 Through faith
he kept the passover, and the sprinkling of blood, lest he that destroyed
the firstborn should touch them. 29 By faith they passed through the Red
sea as by dry land: which the Egyptians assaying to do were drowned. 30
By faith the walls of Jericho fell down, after they were compassed about
seven days. 31 By faith the harlot Rahab perished not with them that believed
not, when she had received the spies with peace. 32 And what shall I more
say? for the time would fail me to tell of Gedeon, and of Barak, and of
Samson, and of Jephthae; of David also, and Samuel, and of the prophets:
33 Who through faith subdued kingdoms, wrought righteousness, obtained
promises, stopped the mouths of lions, 34 Quenched the violence of fire,
escaped the edge of the sword, out of weakness were made strong, waxed
valiant in fight, turned to flight the armies of the aliens. 35 Women received
their dead raised to life again: and others were tortured, not accepting
deliverance; that they might obtain a better resurrection:
36 And others had trial of cruel mockings and scourgings, yea, moreover
of bonds and imprisonment: 37 They were stoned, they were sawn asunder,
were tempted, were slain with the sword: they wandered about in sheepskins
and goatskins; being destitute, afflicted, tormented; 38 (Of whom the world
was not worthy:) they wandered in deserts, and in mountains, and in dens
and caves of the earth. 39 And these all, having obtained a good report
through faith, received not the promise:
40 God having provided some better thing for us, that they without
us should not be made perfect.
Facing a Crisis
Psalm 121
1 I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help.
2 My help cometh from the LORD, which made heaven and earth. 3 He will
not suffer thy foot to be moved: he that keepeth thee will not slumber.
4 Behold, he that keepeth Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep. 5 The
LORD is thy keeper: the LORD is thy shade upon thy right hand. 6 The sun
shall not smite thee by day, nor the moon by night. 7 The LORD shall preserve
thee from all evil: he shall preserve thy soul. 8 The LORD shall preserve
thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even for evermore.
Matthew 6:25-34
25 Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye
shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall
put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment?
26 Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap,
nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not
much better than they?
27 Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his
stature? 28 And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies
of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin:
29 And yet I say unto you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed
like one of these. 30 Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the
field, which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, shall he not
much more clothe you, O ye of little faith? 31 Therefore take no
thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal
shall we be clothed? 32 (For after all these things do the Gentiles
seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these
things. 33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness;
and all these things shall be added unto you. 34 Take therefore no
thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things
of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.
Hebrews 4:16
16 Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may
obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.
Faith Fails
Psalms 42:5
5 Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted in
me? hope thou in God: for I shall yet praise him for the help of his countenance.
Friends Fail
Psalm 41: 9-13
9 Yea, mine own familiar friend, in whom I trusted, which did eat of
my bread, hath lifted up his heel against me. 10 But thou, O LORD, be merciful
unto me, and raise me up, that I may requite them. 11 By this I know
that thou favourest me, because mine enemy doth not triumph over me.
12 And as for me, thou upholdest me in mine integrity, and settest me before
thy face for ever. 13 Blessed be the LORD God of Israel from everlasting,
and to everlasting. Amen, and Amen.
Luke 17:3,4
3 Take heed to yourselves: If thy brother trespass against thee, rebuke
him; and if he repent, forgive him. 4 And if he trespass against
thee seven times in a day, and seven times in a day turn again to thee,
saying, I repent; thou shalt forgive him.
Romans 12: 14, 17, 19, 21
14 Bless them which persecute you: bless, and curse not. 17 Recompense
to no man evil for evil. Provide things honest in the sight of all men.
19 Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath:
for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord. 21
Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good.
II Timothy 4:16-18
16 At my first answer no man stood with me, but all men forsook me:
I pray God that it may not be laid to their charge.
17 Notwithstanding the Lord stood with me, and strengthened me; that
by me the preaching might be fully known, and that all the Gentiles might
hear: and I was delivered out of the mouth of the lion.
18 And the Lord shall deliver me from every evil work, and will preserve
me unto his heavenly kingdom: to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.
Leaving Home
Psalm 121
Matthew 10:16-20
16 Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be ye
therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves. 17 But beware of men:
for they will deliver you up to the councils, and they will scourge you
in their synagogues; 18 And ye shall be brought before governors
and kings for my sake, for a testimony against them and the Gentiles.
19 But when they deliver you up, take no thought how or what ye shall speak:
for it shall be given you in that same hour what ye shall speak.
20 For it is not ye that speak, but the Spirit of your Father which speaketh
in you.
Lonely
Psalm 23
Hebrews 13:5,6
5 Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with
such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor
forsake thee. 6 So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I
will not fear what man shall do unto me.
Needing God's Protection
Psalm 27:1-6
1 The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the LORD
is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?
2 When the wicked, even mine enemies and my foes, came upon me to eat
up my flesh, they stumbled and fell. 3 Though an host should encamp against
me, my heart shall not fear: though war should rise against me, in this
will I be confident. 4 One thing have I desired of the LORD, that will
I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of
my life, to behold the beauty of the LORD, and to enquire in his temple.
5 For in the time of trouble he shall hide me in his pavilion: in the secret
of his tabernacle shall he hide me; he shall set me up upon a rock. 6 And
now shall mine head be lifted up above mine enemies round about me: therefore
will I offer in his tabernacle sacrifices of joy; I will sing, yea, I will
sing praises unto the LORD.
Philipians 4:19
19 But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in
glory by Christ Jesus.
Needing Guidance
Psalm 32:8
8 I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go:
I will guide thee with mine eye.
Proverbs 3:5,6
5 Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own
understanding. 6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy
paths.
Needing Peace
John 14:1-4
1 Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in
me. 2 In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would
have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. 3 And if I go and prepare
a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where
I am, there ye may be also. 4 And whither I go ye know, and the way ye
know.
John 16:33
33 These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace.
In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome
the world.
